3 Tips For Having Healthier And Younger-Looking Skin

Posted on

Many people would love to have healthy and young-looking skin. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, which is why it is so important that you take care of it properly. Here are some things that you can do to care for your skin so that it will look beautiful for years to come.

1. Stop Smoking

It is pretty common knowledge that smoking can be detrimental to your lungs; however, it can also be terrible for your skin. Some people mistakenly think that your skin receives oxygen through the outer layer. That is false. Your skin receives its oxygen from the inside of your body, more specifically, your blood stream. When you smoke it causes the blood cells to become contorted. They are not able to carry healthy oxygen to the skin; instead, it is laced with the nicotine and smoke that you take into your body.

Over time, smoking can damage your skin beyond repair, which is why it is so much better if you can stop while you are young, or better yet, never start.

2. Shave With Care

Another thing that many people don't realize has a huge impact on their skin is shaving. Many people shave their body every day. This means that your skin is constantly being irritated with a razor, which can lead to long-term damage.

When you shave you should do a couple of things. First, shave in warm or hot water. This will help the skin to lie as flat as possible so that the hair follicles are exposed. If you shave when it is cold, there is a good chance you will get chill bumps that could be scarred. Second, shave with oil or a very thick gel. This will give your body a protective layer so that the razor won't harm the skin. And lastly, moisturize after you shave. You have just lost a thin layer of skin, it is important that you hydrate and keep it healthy.

3. Moisturize The Skin

Even though your body doesn't take in oxygen from the outer layer, it is still important that you care for the outer layer. When you put on good moisturizer it helps to hold the oxygen in the skin that comes from the blood. This will keep the skin looking and feeling smooth and healthy. You should be moisturizing after showers, before bed, or anytime the skin feels dry.

By doing these things you can have healthy-looking skin. Click here for more info on skin health.
